Main duties of the job

We are currently looking for a dynamic, motivated Cardiology Research Nurse who will take responsibility for the coordination and management of a cardiovascular clinical research portfolio linked to the National Institute for Health and Care Research Barts Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR Barts BRC) as well as the interventional cardiology department. Currently, the focus is on novel medical devices and their implementation into clinical practice. Specifically, the role will involve recruitment of patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation and liaison with other research recruitment sites.

The Research Nurse is an independent practitioner working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities will include the education of patients and colleagues, screening and recruitment, the coordination of care of patients on trials, the collection and preparation of biological samples, and the collection and input of data. The post holder will be expected to have sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patient's advocate.

They will co-ordinate the treatment pathway for patients on clinical trials and support the delivery of care for these patients by promoting greater collaboration amongst the health care professionals caring for this group of patients.
