Lead Sleep Physiologist

Job summary

As the Band 8a Physiologist, you will play a pivotal role in leading and facilitating our comprehensive sleep service within the respiratory department. You will work closely with our Lead Physiologist, Dr. John Barry, and the Clinical Lead for Sleep Medicine, Dr. Nadia Gildeh. You will also manage a team of three junior physiologists, overseeing clinical operations while maintaining your own caseload of sleep clinics, CPAP management, sleep reporting, and triage sessions.

Main duties of the job

To direct and manage the sleep service with a view to lead clinical and managerial responsibilities (refer to main role later in the document) which will involve diagnostic, clinical meetings, multi-professional meetings, management of patient lists and staff. They will also cover duties as necessary during colleagues' absences and at times of additional pressure, as directed.

Whipps Cross Hospital Sleep Service are looking to appoint a dynamic, progressive, enthusiastic Band 8a physiologist to lead and facilitate our large sleep service of over 4000 patients and growing. Desirable specifications for the person appointed would be registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists, RCCP, or equivalent, and experience working in a sleep service managing CPAP set-up and trouble-shooting as well as some management and leadership experience. The postholder will be supporting our Lead Physiologist Dr John Barry as well as the Clinical Lead for Sleep Medicine Dr Nadia Gildeh and be responsible for 3 junior physiologists. They will help to manage and progress our sleep service as well as also having their own sleep clinics, CPAP patients, sleep reporting and triage sessions.
