Job summary

The Royal London Hospital is one of Europe's largest major trauma centres, and is nationally and internationally recognised for its work in advancing trauma care. On Ward 12F, you will become part of a team who thrives in cutting edge surgery and innovation.

12F also houses 8 beds for Rapid Access Acute Rehabilitation (RAAR) , which is a part of the Major Trauma Service at the Royal London Hospital. This is a rehabilitation service that offers early, intensive rehabilitation in the Royal London Hospital for up to a maximum of 6 weeks.

As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse for the neurosurgical, neurology and, ENT/Max-Fax Ward, you will play a central role in the care being provided to our patients, helping to further develop our excellent team members in line with the changing needs of the services. This is an exciting and rewarding role, which would be suitable for a candidate with leadership experience, and a strong track record of working collaboratively to maintain and develop safe, effective, and compassionate services. You will be working as part of a friendly and supportive team within Neurosciences and the Emergency Care & Trauma Division at the Royal London.

The successful candidate should have experience and strong interest in caring for patients with Neurological and Neurosurgical conditions.

Main duties of the job

To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team.The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse has delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical areas including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards on a shift basis and in the authorised absence of the Ward.The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will participate in innovation and evidence based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the Ward Manager and the Senior Nurse.The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.To have delegated responsibility for the operational and management issues in the authorised absence of the Ward Manager and take on the leadership of specific projects as agreed with the Ward Manager.

As a proficient practitioner in adult nursing, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher.

They provide effective mentorship and preceptorship, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff.
