Job summary
We are looking for a Locum Consultant HPB Surgeon to further develop our service. Key duties will be supervising and running operating lists, core and specialist clinics, diagnostics, on call cover, and care for patients on wards in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, including ward nurses and specialist nursing teams. The unit is active in research, quality improvement and the post holder will be expected to fully participate in this activity.
You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and preferably be on the Specialist Registrar or be within 12 months of obtaining CCT/CESR. Informal discussions are encouraged and you are invited to contact.
Main duties of the job
1. To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient, elective and non-elective HPB and general surgical service.
2. To contribute to the development and provision of a comprehensive HPB and general surgical service at Barts Health NHS Trust.
3. To provide evidence-based care for all inpatients and outpatients.
4. To have regard at all times to the clinical and quality standards set out in relevant NHS guidance and the Care Quality Commission reports.
5. To participate fully in the management of the Department and to liaise closely with the Lead Clinician, Service Manager, General Manager and Clinical Director.
6. The post holder may be required to carry out other duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
7. The duties outlined are not definite and may be changed in accordance with needs of the service requiring the post holder to be cooperative and flexible.
