Job summary

We're looking for a confident and compassionate midwife to take on the role of Labour Ward Coordinator within our busy, diverse maternity service. This is an exciting opportunity to lead on shift and support the smooth, safe running of one of London's most dynamic labour wards.

As a key member of the Service leadership team, you'll coordinate activity across the unit, prioritise care needs, support midwives and work as part of the multidisciplinary team, and help maintain high standards for every woman/birthing person and baby. This role is aligned with the Labour Ward Coordinator Framework, supporting clear expectations and professional development. You'll play a vital part in delivering safe, responsive, and respectful care--while growing as a clinical leader.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take responsibility for the shift management and clinical leadership ofthe midwifery service. They will be expected to ensure high standards of maternity carethrough effective management of staff by leading the team, organizing others in their actionsand setting priorities. They will be an effective team player, leader and builder.

They will liaise with and collaborate across the maternity service to ensure a seamlessservice that provides personalised and women-centered care and will undertake the role ofSenior Clinical Midwife for the Maternity service out of hours.

They will assess the full range of care needs and develop, implement and evaluate provisionof care throughout the childbirth continuum for women and their babies and escalateconcerns to the relevant professional.
