Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Manager to lead and enhance patient and public involvement and engagement activities within Barts Health NHS Trust. This pivotal role will ensure that the voices of patients, carers, and the public are effectively integrated into decision-making processes, research design, delivery and dissemination within the NHS.

The Research Engagement team works with researchers, healthcare professionals, patients and the public to build stronger, inclusive partnerships in the development, delivery and dissemination of our research and encourage greater levels ofengagement, participation and involvement in our research amongst our patients and local residents. The team is committed to reducing health inequalities and has established strong links with local VCFSE and statutory bodies and community inclusion and engagement programmes, to ensure the research we undertake is meeting the needs of those most in need across North East London and further afield

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team working to create an inclusive community of practice around research delivery across Barts Health, to share learning and contribute to the evidence base, ensuring that PPIE impact evidence is accessible and shared in a way which will benefit the development of future research projects, policy and practice.

You will also establish and oversee efficient administrative and business systems to support the team so that we can deliver an efficient and professional service to Trust and Medical School researchers, our patients and the general public.A strong customer service attitude and collaborative approach is key.

You will form part of a small, dynamic and impactful team, where you will have a key role in influencing, shaping and delivering key PPIE initiatives and projects to further our inclusion ambitions.

Your primary base will be in Whitechapel at our Joint Research Management Office. However, there is also flexibility for you to work from home for .

  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in patient/public involvement/ engagement, healthcare, social sciences, or related field.

Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area (e.g., Public Health, Healthcare Management)

  • Demonstrable track record of providing PPIE expertise and support to healthcare researchers, including developing and delivering training in PPIE, communications and/ or inclusive research practice
  • Experience in managing and leading engagement projects, from design to evaluation
  • Experience of developing and implementing effective monitoring and evaluation measures in order to track/monitor PPIE/ communications activity
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.

  • Fund-raising/ grant application development experience
  • Experience in working with patients with complex health needs, carers, or underserved groups
