The pharmacy clinical trials service at Barts Health has seen significant investment over the last few years and the evolving team of pharmacists, technicians and assistants manage an ever-expanding portfolio of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials. An exciting opportunity has developed to help shape the future of clinical trials with this brand new post.
You will help to manage an excellent trials team at the Royal London Hospital site and will have a portfolio of trials to set up and monitor. You will also be involved in continuous improvement project work associated with service development and have opportunities to train junior staff, develop your managerial skills and enhance your regulatory knowledge. There are a lot of improvements being made to the service, including the expansion of trials at Newham University Hospital (to include a new satellite pharmacy) and Mile End Hospital. A new satellite pharmacy is also in development as part of the new Clinical research Facility (CRF) due to open at the Royal London hospital in 2026.
Main duties of the job
The principal objective of this role is to support the operational aspects of all dispensary based trials at the Royal London Hospital, with some cross site working at Newham University Hospital, Mile End Hospital and Whipps Cross university Hospital (collectively referred to as Shared Services). The post holder will be expected;o To support in co-ordination of operational pharmacy aspects of dispensary based clinical trials across the sites named above, or any Barts Health site where necessary.o Support the Senior Pharmacists and Clinical Trial Coordinator to ensure all documentation including standard operating procedures are relevant, in date and according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirementso Contribute to service development programmes and maintain systems consistent with GCP requirements.
