Job summary

Key responsibilities include (training will be provided);o Providing care to patients attending for in clinic medical and surgical terminations of pregnancy;o Undertaking telephone consultations with women seeking advice and support regarding pregnancy choices and termination of pregnancy care;o Advising patients on options for contraception for emergency and ongoing use;o Fitting and removal of subdermal contraceptive implants (once trained)o Undertaking cervical cytology (once trained)o Operational co-ordination of the shift;o Triaging patients as required;o Assisting colleagues as required with examinations and procedures such as Manual vacuum Aspiration (MVA) and Intrauterine contraception fitting;o Processing of samples ;o Maintenance of stock and pharmacyYou will receive training and supervision to undertake these roles and will work within a team of friendly and supportive Nurses, Doctors, administrative staff and Counsellors.

Main duties of the job

The Registered Nurse post will receive training, enabling the Nurse to provide care for patients requiring termination of pregnancy, contraceptive and other Women's Health needs. The post holder will assist with medical and non-medical terminations of pregnancy, administer prescribed medications, provide chaperoning and support to patients attending the service as well as undertaking shift coordination.
