Job summary

The Radiotherapy service is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital, a leading, internationally renowned teaching hospital situated within the City of London. The department offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic organisation using and developing the latest techniques and technologies.

We are looking to recruit an outstanding, experienced and motivated Therapeutic Radiographer to help shape the future of the Radiotherapy service, ensuring high quality and innovative practice is provided.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the operational management of either pre-treatment or treatment section. The successful candidate will play a key role in the operational management of the department to deliver a service of excellence, individualised to our patients. The post will provide technical leadership, for their section of responsibility. The ideal candidate whilst being a capable self-starter will also relish working as part of a team and will be able to provide strong leadership. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic for change, with a strong and compelling personality to be instrumental in the delivery of our vision to deliver safe and effective, world class Radiotherapy.

You will work closely with the Head of Radiotherapy and Operational Lead to provide clinical and technical expertise to the department, ensuring efficient pathways for specialised and innovative radiotherapy techniques.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to support work within the existing operational radiotherapymanagement team, leading the operational management of the radiotherapy pre-treatment or treatment section at Barts Cancer CentreTo be a lead specialist for the Treatment area, working within codes of practice and professional guidelines with accountability for own actions.Provide operational leadership for the Therapeutic Radiotherapy and support staff teams.You will be responsible for the pre-treatment or treatment operational processes and KPIs of the radiotherapy service within the defined resourcesTo support the Head of Radiotherapy and Associate Head of Radiotherapy in ensuring anddeveloping the provision of a high quality, patient centred and clinically led service.The post holder will provide leadership across operational activity, to ensure a robust and high quality patient pathway is provided from referral to discharge.The post holder will work with the wider team to ensure national cancer wait targets are adhered to.To work with the team leader radiographers to develop, introduce and facilitate new techniques and equipment, ensuring teaching and training programs are implemented within defined time-scales and cost.Work flexible hours and shift patterns, including weekends, according to the needs of the service. Full participation in on-call and bank holiday working is required. It may be necessary to work until 20:00 during periods of scheduled and unscheduled linac downtime
