Post-CCT Fellow in Gastroenterology

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We have a full-time, fully funded HPB Medicine Fellowship starting in September 2025. The fellowship is primarily based at Royal London Hospital with some endoscopy activity at Mile End Hospital.

The post would suit a recently qualified or senior trainee, seeking to advance their skills in HPB medicine in a welcoming environment. The program aims to complement existing gastroenterology services and offer advanced training in Pancreaticobiliary endoscopy. The fellowship duration is 12 months.

Applicants should be at the end of their specialist training and should be JAG accredited for diagnostic OGD, colonoscopy and polypectomy, with audit data satisfying standard JAG auditable outcomes.

Main duties of the job

The fellowship is designed to develop advanced skills with appropriate support. The program offers a balance of clinical practice (6 sessions/week) and academic activities (4 sessions/week). The fellow will receive tertiary-level training in HPB medicine, ERCP, and EUS (including Spy Cholangioscopy, pancreatic endotherapy, and therapeutic EUS). Clinical experience includes participation in: 3-4 EUS/ERCP training lists per week, 2 clinics per week and 2 general endoscopy lists per week. As with all senior fellows and consultants in the Royal London Hospital, one of the endoscopy sessions is flexible and may need to be worked on a Saturday. The academic sessions are dedicated to research (including a personal project), teaching, and administration. Active participation in at least one research and one audit project is expected. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to attend benign and malignant pancreatic MDTs. The postholder will participate in the Out-of-hours consultant bleed rota.

This is a BSG Endorsed Endoscopy Fellowships and in line with this, it is expected that < 50% of the job plan will be service provision.
