Job summary

To be part of a team of clinical scientists and technicians. Successful applicant will be supporting management of the existing portfolio of service contracts which is part of the Medical Device whole lifecycle management. The Clinical Engineering Section is primarily concerned with providing repair, calibration, maintenance and governance to a wide range of medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to the Barts Health NHS Trust and to various NHS and private healthcare organisations. Clinical equipment covered incorporates electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer software and medical gas systems.

The main emphasis of this role is to work closely and to assist the Clinical Engineering Contracts Manager. In doing so, the postholder will contribute to other aspects of medical equipment management and maintenance handled by the Department and will support clinical technologist in their work as appropriate.

The Postholder will work closely with internal stakeholders and with service/equipment providers. Ideally, they are expected to have some knowledge and practical experience of biomedical engineering.

Main duties of the job

The Postholder will assist the Clinical Engineering Contracts Manager in managing maintenance arrangements provided by external organisations/suppliers covering medical equipment used within Barts Health. Among other duties it will involve administration, negotiation, auditing, site visits and more.

  • oFirst Degree in Electronics Engineering or Physics
  • oEvidence of regular attendance at technical training courses at postgraduate diploma level throughout career.

Desirable

  • oRegistered Clinical Technologist

  • Experience in all aspects of the management of clinical equipment with some involvement in contract or business management.
  • Experience with using asset database and other Quality System, finance and Procurement platforms.
  • Biomedical Enginering experience
