Job summary

Barts Health Volunteers is an innovative and responsive volunteer programme supporting the five main hospitals across Barts Health NHS Trust.

Volunteers play an integral part in delivering our services here at Barts and we believe that volunteers add so much value to the experience of patients and visitors.

There are over a 1,000 active volunteers supporting a plethora of services such as: Maternity, Emergency Department, Older People Services. In addition we work with a larger number of external organisations including: Macmillan, Bliss, Breastfeeding and maternity networks engaging and involving local people in to an excited and varied portfolio of volunteering roles.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Volunteer Manager who can help us to grow, support and develop this well-respected and exciting service.If you enjoy working with people from all backgrounds, enjoy a job with changing demands and challenges, and committed to making a difference for patients, staff and volunteers we look forward to receiving your application.

  • Degree and/or an appropriate professional qualification or equivalent level of expertise/knowledge in volunteer management

  • Demonstrable experience of volunteer management in an NHS setting or other related field
  • Experience of line managing support service staff
  • Experience of working with and building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and diverse community members across a complex organisation
  • Experience of line managing support staff
  • Proven experience of success in service improvement and development in response to user group needs
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across a complex organisation
