Job summary

Barts Health NHS Trust Hospital invites you to apply for this exciting opportunity to join the wider Cardiology team at Hospital as a Specialist Cardiology Registrar (ST3+) with an interest in digital health. Training will be given in general cardiology and Echocardiography including one day week focusing on research in the field of digital health.The ideal candidate is working towards gaining a training number in cardiology. Support & guidance will be given to facilitate this and improve the candidate's CV.

This post is for a Locumopportunity for 12 months.

The Barts Heart Centre & the cardiology department in the trust is the biggest in the UK and one of the biggest in Europe. Cardiology is a specialist department as part of the wider Intervention Directorate at St Bartholomew's hospital, again, being the biggest in the UK with its complement of 10 catherisation labs (5 of which are dedicated to Intervention).

Main duties of the job

Wx has a bed capacity of approximately 750 - 800 beds. This includes 9 ITU beds, 8 CCU beds, NIV beds and 13 cardiology beds. Newham has a busy Emergency Department and is a designated Major Incident Centre.

The Emergency Department works in partnership with an on-site Walk-In-Centre (WiC) which is managed by the PCT and also accommodates the GP out-of-hours service.

On site clinical specialities include: General Surgery, Urology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthetics, Radiology, Care of the Eldery Medicine, Cardiology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Neurology, HIV/AIDS, Respiratory Medicine, Haematology, and Gastrointestinal Medicine.

Oncology and Dermatology, Rheumatology, ENT, and Ambulatory Dental services are provided on a day-care basis.

There are regular Outpatient Trauma clinics provided by the Orthopaedic Surgeons and clinics for ENT and Ophthalmology. There is a weekday walk-in clinic for Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) patients and an Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit. There is a busy Maternity Unit with over 4300 births each year.
