Job summary
Pre-assessment is pivotal in reaching the 18 week RTT target by the assessment of patients general health and fitness before surgery and carrying out various tests and investigations.
The Pre-assessment unit are looking for an experienced RN to join our busy nurse-led pre-assessment unit at the Gateway Surgical Centre. This is at Band 6 for a 6 month secondment post with a view of substantive post.
The applicant should have at least 2 years surgical experience at Band 5 and be looking to extend their knowledge and autonomy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will need to have excellent communication skills and be adaptable to a busy clinic environment, and managing their own caseload of patients.

They must be keen to learn and develop new skills through the availability of a variety of training opportunities, including the physical assessment course.

Staff are encouraged and given the opportunity to continue their professional development through attendance on relevant courses provided by both City and Southbank Universities.

The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and may need to undertake shift work.
