Job summary

Applications are invited for the position of Lead Community Women's Health Counsellor. This position is in the Sylvia Pankhurst Centre at Mile End Hospital in East London, which is part of ALL EAST Integrated Sexual Health Services, Barts Health NHS Trust.

The Lead Community Women's Health Counsellor will play a pivotal role in the coordination and provision of counselling support to clients accessing services at Sylvia Pankhurst Centre, an integrated Termination of Pregnancy Service and Women's Health Service for Tower Hamlets. The post holder will offer assessment and counselling support as part of an integrated pathway, for clients accessing care relating to female genital mutilation, menopause, and pregnancy options.

Please note: There is a possibility for increased hours with the new local Women's Health Hub. With increased hours, this post holder will collaborate with our Service and Clinical Leads in developing counselling support services for this new initiative for East London.

Main duties of the job

The Lead Community Women's Health Counsellor will play a pivotal role in the coordination and provision of counselling support and intervention to clients accessing services at Sylvia Pankhurst Centre, an integrated Termination of Pregnancy Service and Women's Health Service for Tower Hamlets. The post holder will offer assessment and time-limited counselling support and intervention as part of an integrated pathway, for clients accessing care relating to female genital mutilation, menopause, and pregnancy options. The post holder will also serve as a designated link for safeguarding children and adults, and will work closely with the Lead Nurse, Medical Consultant Lead and Sexual Health Safeguarding Advisor/Safeguarding Named Nurse in ensuring high quality care and support for women and their families. The post holder will act as a leader in organising, monitoring, supporting, and supervising a team of Community Women's Health Counsellors.
