Job summary

We are a supportive, innovative team working with patients who have head and neck cancer, voice disorders, benign ENT, OMFS and airway disorders. Our team covers three sites - St Bartholomews, Royal London and Whipps Cross Hospitals to serve a large and diverse caseload. We have many established specialist clinics that the post holder will have the opportunity to be involved with and have long established working relationships with our ENT, OMFS and Oncology colleagues, along with the wider MDT and SLT team.

This post offers significant opportunity to develop skills and experience in a variety of settings across patient groups within the specialism. You will provide specialist inpatient and outpatient services to adults with a range of disorders arising from head and neck cancer, ENT, transoral robotic surgery, voice and airway conditions. You will have the opportunity to participate in a range of multi-disciplinary clinics such as head and neck cancer, joint voice clinics and radiotherapy.

The post holder will be able to offer independent assessment and management of acquired communication and swallowing difficulties and experience of working with inpatients or outpatients. Experience of ENT, head and neck disorders, tracheostomy or radiotherapy would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Head and Neck and ENT Speech & Language Therapy team for Barts Health NHS Trust. The post holder will have responsibility for independently managing a caseload of adult patients with swallowing and /or communication difficulties related to the treatment of head and neck cancer and benign ENT disorders.
