Job summary

Due to the ongoing risks and need for improvement, an opportunity has arisen for a candidate to support governance. The role will commence with immediate effect, the candidate will be line managed by Sarah Byrne, Associate Director of Clinical Governance. The post holder will support WXH in relation to the delivery of improved governance in several areas of risk related to inquests and PSIRF.

The candidate will have current clinical registration and need to have demonstrable senior level experience in clinical governance and risk. They will require strong interpersonal skills and resilience to respond to rapid improvement, meeting deadlines and culture change.

Secondments will be considered, please obtain your line manager's approval before applying. The post is fixed term and will end on 31st March 2025.

Main duties of the job

Due to the ongoing risks and need for improvement in ETC, an opportunity has arisen for an internal candidate to support governance. The role will commence with immediate effect, the candidate will be line managed by Sarah Byrne, Associate Director of Clinical Governance. The post holder will have some wider governance responsibilities in relation to the management of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, the Hospital Assurance Framework and deputising for the Associate Director of Clinical Governance as required.

The candidate will need to have demonstrable experience in complaints/incident and risk management. They will require strong interpersonal skills and resilience to respond to rapid improvement, meeting deadlines and culture change.

Essential

  • Substantial experience in a senior managerial and leadership role within an acute healthcare setting which is commensurate with the Complexity and size of the allocated area of responsibility.
  • Expert knowledge of Clinical Audit & Effectiveness
  • Expert knowledge of CQC compliance
  • Good understanding of quality improvement techniques-clinical audit, risk management, Complaints
  • Knowledge and experience of leading significant change to patient services, delivering tangible and sustained improvements.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining active partnerships with stakeholders in the development of services.
  • Experience of improvement measurement systems and understanding of the role of measurement in Performance improvement
  • Experience of directly line managing and providing strategic leadership to large numbers of specialist staff/ multidisciplinary service teams ranging from bands 3-7
