Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist (NHS England)
Are you a dynamic and forward-thinking pharmacist, committed to optimising the use of healthcare system resources? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the commissioning team at Barts Health NHS Trust, as the Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist. We are looking for an ambitious individual who will deliver value for money from medicines use. They will work collaboratively with the London Specialised Commissioning Team (SCT) NHS England (NHSE), Barts Health NHS Trust and North-East London (NEL) ICS colleagues to promote patient safety, achieve better outcomes and improve value from the use of High-Cost Drugs (HCDs).The post holder will ensure appropriate implementation and monitoring of HCDs, demonstrating excellent leadership skills, and should be confident in working with and influencing senior colleagues including finance, commissioners, and clinicians. Working closely with the pharmacy systems analyst, they will also help improve data quality and accuracy of HCD data. As a key member of the NEL Sub-regional Immunoglobulin assessment panel, they have a pivotal role in ensuring appropriate Immunoglobulin stewardship.

Main duties of the job

o Identifying and facilitating the implementation of QIPP / improving value and medicines optimisation programmes for high-cost drugs and sharing schemes with other local trusts to ensure consistency across the health economyo Implementing and managing the processes for approval, appropriate use and audit of high-cost medicines associated with specialised services.o Ensuring that treatments supported by NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance (TAG) and the Clinical Priorities Advisory Group) (CPAG) for NHSE commissioned HCDs are implemented within the Trust according to the published recommendations.o Providing professional and independent advice to the London SCT pharmacy lead, Barts Health Lead Pharmacist, Medicines Commissioning & Pathways pharmacist and other commissioners and system partners and Trust directorates to ensure relevant financial and implementation issues for NICE TAGs/CPAG policies are identified and articulated at an early stage.
