Job overview

We are looking for a locum consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in Soft tissue Knee, as well as Hip and Knee Arthroplasty.

The post will be for 1 year with a focus on elective patients. You will be predominantly based at Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre in Newham which is an accredited Surgical Hub, with regular clinical sessions at the Royal London Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital. You will be joining a department of 56 consultant orthopaedic surgeons.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 3 months of obtaining CCT.

Experience

Essential

  • Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates Fellowship training in revision lower limb arthroplasty surgery
  • Completed training in Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • Full GMC registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview, CESR or European Community Right

Desirable

  • Experience at consultant level working in a major trauma centre
  • Evidence of clinical interest in fragility fracture management

Skills

Essential

  • Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national level
  • Presentation skills Team, interpersonal & communication skills
  • Self-motivated with an enquiring, critical approach to work
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Caring attitude to patients
  • Commitment to continuing medical education
  • Commitment to engage with Quality improvement processes and drive further development
  • Take an active leadership role within the clinical environment
