Job summary

We are looking to appoint a practice Development Nurse to join our Education team on the Neonatal Unit at Royal London Hospital. We are a tertiary medical and surgical NICU with 14 ICU , 15 HDU and 14 Special care cots. We provide an unrivalled experience in caring for babies that are born prematurely and we are also a cooling centre.

The PDN's are responsible for the education , teaching and training of pre and post registration students, and the newly qualified Band 5 nurses, as they transition from being students to NQN. The role also includes teaching resuscitation , training and implementing new medical equipment and continuing educational updates and an active role in the recruitment process. The post holder will be expected to continue to maintain her clinical skills by working rostered shifts , using the best evidence based care available.

Main duties of the job

We are a Level 3 medical and surgical Neonatal ICU that provides care to some of the tiniest patients in London and would like to invite you to apply for the role of the Practice Development Nurse. We are currently expanding to a total of 45 beds, by the end of the current year. We are a very busy Neonatal unit and we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Neonatal Nurse , for a Band 7 Neonatal Practice Development Nurse.

The practice Development nurse will join our current team to provide nursing leadership and clinical practice development expertise.This role will provide support in nursing practice in the clinical environment and at the same time you will be well suppoted in your role by the Senior Nurse, Matrons, otother PDN's and a Clinical Practice Facilitator. The Band 7 Senior Nurses, lead a team of qualified Neonatal Nurses, Registered Children's Nurses, Registered Adult Nurss,Nursery Nurses ,Health Care Support Workers and Ward Administrators in caring for the neonates.
