Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and ambitious individual to join the Barts Heart Centre Division at St Bartholomew's Hospital. We are seeking to recruit a Junior Doctor Rota Coordinator to help with the day to day running of six junior doctor rotas across the Cardiothoracic Anaesthetic and Critical Care departments (collectively, Peri-Operative Medicine).

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, proactive and well organized with a strong sense of patient/customer care. The ability to multi task and work under pressure in what can often be a busy environment is essential. It will be essential that this individual can work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, but also work autonomously to deliver amin support to the Peri-Operative Medicine (POM) service. This post will report into the Service Manager for Theatres and POM.

Candidates should ideally have good knowledge and understanding of managing meetings and events, of writing and following standard admin operating procedures (SOPs) and will have prior experience of working in an administrative role in an NHS setting.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this post is to provide administrative support to the Anaesthetic service in the hospital; including administrating a complex rota, facilitating audit, tracking of patients, organising and administrating meetings, and ensuring a smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment by the Trust.

Essential

  • GCSE A-C in Maths and English or equivalent standard of education
  • ECDL or equivalent experience ie experience of a range of IT packages such as word, excel, outlook and power point.

Desirable

  • A good level of medical terminology acquired through education, training or work experience.
  • NVQ in Business Management or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience in an administration / medical secretarial / pathway or equivalent non-NHS administrative field.
