Hours: 37.5. 4 days a week will be spent working in the Trust and 1 day a week will be spent studying at BPP.

The Legal Services team falls within Corporate Development and works closely with colleagues across the trust to resolve legal issues and contribute to the governance structure. The main roles the team provides is:
o advice and representation at inquestsoinput on clinical negligence and personal injury claims;omedico-legal advice; ando governance input on learning from claims and trends in the legal caseload.
Main duties of the job
The Bart's Health graduate solicitor apprenticeship will support you to qualify as a solicitor through the new Solicitors Qualifying Exams (SQE1 and SQE2) pathway. Barts Health will fully fund your training during the SQE training programme. The Bart's Health legal team has a long history of training and developing it's staff to qualify as solicitors; many of our current team trained and qualified at the Trust. The new Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship and SQE route to qualification is a welcome opportunity to widen access to the profession and enables us to support you to qualification without any student debt.

Your time in the team will be divided into two seats, litigation and regulatory. You may also have the opportunity to go on secondment to gain experience in another area or at another organisation. You will be working towards the duties and responsibilities and person specification of the Claims and Inquest Manager role (see job description and person specification).
We would like you to join us as soon as you are available before the apprenticeship begins in September 2024, so that you can settle into the Trust and the team and start gaining experience before your studying begins.
Barts Health welcomes applications for graduate solicitor apprenticeships from suitably qualified candidates from any background, including mature candidates and non-law graduates. You will be compassionate, agile, a keen advocate, and passionate about the NHS and healthcare law.
You will ideally have a 2:1 degree in law, or a 2:1 in a non-law degree and at least a pass in the GDL. If you have completed your law degree (LLB) or have completed the graduate diploma in law (GDL) in the last 5 years, you are able to apply.
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who are already qualified in a medical discipline, who have experience of healthcare or third sector environments, and from those in our local community.
