Associate Director of Nursing

Barts Cancer Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cancer centre at St Bartholomew's Hospital and networked Cancer services across Barts Health. The Associate Director of Nursing is a key clinical leader for the Barts Cancer Centre working alongside the Divisional Manager and Divisional Director. The ADoN will be the expert nursing lead for the Cancer Centre and networked services, accountable for the delivery of services within the division in a safe and effective way that is aligned with our Trust values. The post holder will work closely with the Director of Nursing to achieve equitable high standards of safe care with clear oversight of the quality and governance agenda for the division.

Main duties of the job

The Associate Director of Nursing is a key clinical leader for the Barts Cancer Centre working alongside the Divisional triumvirate. The ADoN will be the expert nursing lead for the Cancer Centre and networked sites, accountable for the delivery of services within the division in a safe and effective way that is aligned with our Trust values. The post holder will work closely with the director of nursing to achieve equitable high standards of safe care with oversight of the quality and governance agenda for the division.

  • Extensive experience of working in a senior nurse role in an acute service (8B or above)
  • Experience of Budget management
  • Experience of quality governance and oversight
  • Experience of complex people management

  • Experience of managing other professional groups

  • Ability to influence and facilitate MDT working
  • Verbal, written and communication skills suitable to a range of audiences including chairing of meetings

  • Broad understanding of issues relating to cancer patients on multiple pathways. surgical/medical
  • Knowledge of wider multidisciplinary team outside of nursing
