Job summary

The Radiotherapy service is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital, a leading, internationally renowned teaching hospital situated within the City of London. The department offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic organisation using and developing the latest techniques and technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team to work as an independent GI Advanced Practitioner to support the efficient running of cancer pathways and enable patient centred continuity of care, effective use of resources to achieve national cancer targets. We are looking to recruit a compassionate, adaptable, experienced and motivated Therapeutic Radiographer to join our innovative, friendly team with a specific interest in GI cancers.

Main duties of the job

The post is structured around the four core functions of advanced practice:

  • Expert Practice
  • Professional Leadership and Consultancy
  • Education and Training
  • Practice and Service Development

The successful candidate will be required to be working as an autonomous Advanced Practitioner as defined by the SoR Education and Career Framework.

Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team you will be integral to the provision of a safe, comprehensive and effective Radiotherapy service which provides excellent care with compassion and respect.

Treatment equipment comprises five Varian TrueBeam linacs, CyberKnife, XStrahl orthovoltage unit and Gammamed HDR on the ARIA network complete the equipment portfolio.

Pre-treatment imaging is provided with a Siemens Somatom Confidence CT and planning with Varian Eclipse treatment planning system. Techniques include virtual simulation and delivery of simple and complex conformal treatments. IMRT, IGRT, TBI, DIBH, ART and gynaecological brachytherapy are currently offered as routine as well as multi-platform stereotactic radiosurgery and SABR.
