ASSOCIATE SPECIALIST IN ENT SURGERY
(8 PAs)
Applications are invited for an associate specialist in ENT Surgery to join a team of consultants in the Ear, Nose and Throat department at the Royal London Hospital.
The post is an 8.5 PAs appointment, and includes general adult, rhinology and 2ww clinics in this tertiary referral centre.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for running the oncall and hot week rota for the SpR oncall.
Main duties of the job
The Associate specialist will provide independent care to patients mainly from a clinic base in General ENT +/- Paediatric ENT. Duties will also include the active management of emergency clinics. At present, there is no dedicated theatre, but the specialist will be asked to cover leave or perform ad hoc theatres to the equivalent of 32 PAs in total for the year.
The Associate Specialist at consultant grade level; they will be responsible for teaching registrars and other junior staff, as well as contributing to the department teaching, audit and research programmes at Barts Health.
Senior mentorship is a great strength of the Barts ENT Department, and the Senior Consultants are readily approachable for advice and support at all times. It is envisaged that the Juniors and Senior Consultants will work together and provide the opportunities for ongoing development, mentorship and support. The new appointee will be granted equitable working conditions to his/her Associate Specialist colleagues.
