We want to continue developing our clinical informatics team by appointing a clinical informatics lead at WXH. This is an opportunity for a healthcare professional with proven leadership abilities and a passion for improving health care delivery using digital tools and data science. The current clinical informatics team consists of the chief clinical information officer (CCIO), the Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO), their deputies and Hospital based Clinical Informatics Leads (CILs) and Nursing Information Officers (NIOs)
Main duties of the job
The key responsibility will be to drive the adoption of the Trust Electronic Health Record (Millennium Powerchart) and support teams to use point of care collected data to drive quality improvement. Working with the nursing information officers will be central to the successful delivery of our vision of developing real world clinical data into a valuable asset for patient care, audit and research.
The JD sets expectations of the role and a time commitment of 1 PA/week.

Role description
We will appoint a health professional who can show experience in improving care using electronic systems and data who is able to influence colleagues in changing working practices via new technology and our Trusts information systems. The key attributes of the successful candidates include, but are not limited to:
- Create commitment for using the Trust EHR which aligns with the Barts Health clinical and health Informatics strategy
- The ability to develop trust and confidence with clinical groups and work in collaboration with teams across our sites
- Experience of using health IT systems and data to achieve clinical change
- Responsibility for supporting site-based teams to articulate their information needs and to achieve clinical quality goals using the Trust electronic systems
- Promote education and training of clinical staff to use the Trust EHR effectively, ensure deeper adoption, and use new functionality when released into the Trust domain
- Proven ability to own specific tasks and follow through with assigned actions as the norm
- Contribute to the development of local clinical design and configuration of Oracle-Cerner Millennium
- Develop the use of actionable insights derived from point-of-care recorded data into the EHR
- Work with site-based teams to optimise the system and improve usability.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure best use of the Trust systems in the specialties based at Barts and particularly in cancer.
- Work with the CCIOs and CIO to produce audit data for local and national reporting purposes and research-quality data to achieve the aims of our Life Sciences strategy.
- Work with the CCIOs and CIO in creating a culture of health innovation and change using health IT
- Attendance at clinical network and programme boards, as required during large implementations
- Attendance at quarterly Clinical Informatics Board to provide input, updates and contribution to overall health informatics initiatives and priorities
- Monthly attendance for the CCIO/CIL meeting
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, and willingness to represent the Trust in external meetings/forums in the area of clinical health informatics
- Willing to host/participate in reference site visits for visiting organisations which may include but is not limited to NHSE, NHSI, NHSD and other NHS providers
