Trust Grade Registrar ST3+ in Diabetes , Endocrinology & General Medicine
6 Months Fixed Term
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our dynamic team providing acute General Internal Medicine (GIM), and Diabetes and Endocrine services to the people of Newham. This post would suit either a full time or part time candidate and will be available from 1st March until 7nd August 2024.
Newham University Hospital is a district general hospital with a major undergraduate teaching role within Barts and the London Medical and Dental School. The hospital serves one of the youngest and most ethnically diverse populations in the UK. This post offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialty based skills including experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology outpatient clinics. The team offers a mixture of face to face, telephone and video clinics (which were pioneered within the Newham Diabetes service). The award winning Newham Diabetes Service includes a vibrant Young Adult / Type 1 service that supports DAFNE training, pumps and manages some patients on a closed loop system. Type 2 Diabetes management is largely supported within an innovative MDT model where primary care diabetes teams and secondary care physicians discuss cases and develop management plans in partnership.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will join 3 other registrars/ IMT3 on the firm to share ward duties including managing inpatients specialty referrals within the hospital and participate in specialist diabetes & endocrinology clinics
- The post holder will be expected to attend the department clinical case meetings, X ray and morbidity and mortality (M&M) meetings
- The post holder will be encouraged to take part in audit, governance including incident reporting and education.
- Participation acute medical on call rota with prospective cover
- The posts are ideal for candidates wishing to pursue a career in Diabetes and Endocrinology. There are ample research and career development opportunities within the department to help candidates apply for training number.
