Job summary
We are looking for motivated and experienced Planner Controller to join the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) at Barts Health.
Our NEPTS is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because of their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen. All requests for patient transport are assessed on medical need. Transport is only provided for patients coming from their home addresses to North East London NHS Trust locations. Transport is also provided for patients going home from a North East London NHS Trust locations to a booked address stated by the ward or clinic anywhere in the mainland UK.
The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all patient transport journeys and ensure that they are in line with NEPTS performance targets. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring that patient transfers are delivered safely as agreed with our Integrated Care Board (ICB) by ensuring all journeys present and future is planned with consideration on patient location and requirements (i.e., care packages, mobility, and medical condition, etc.) and assigning the appropriate resource that will provide an assured and safe patient transfer in and out of our hospitals.
Main duties of the job
The NEPTS Planner Controller will ensure that the day-to-day management of all patient transport journeys are in line with NEPTS performance targets. Ensure all patient transfers are delivered safely as agreed with our Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). S/He will report to the NEPTS Assistant Control Room Manager.
The Post holder will be responsible in ensuring all journeys present and future is planned to take into consideration our patent requirements, i.e., care packages, mobility, age, medical condition and assigning the correct resource that will provide an assured and safe patient transfer in and out of our hospitals. Specifically, they will:
o Be part of team responsible for the planning and allocation of over 1,200 journeys across Barts Health. This can only be done by assigning various patient transfer journeys to over 200 patient transport ambulance drivers across Bart's health Trust NHS. Ensure all patient journey planning, resource allocation is completed in a timely and confident manner.o Using the NEPTS Cleric system and other transport tracking system for the management of the patent transport drivers dailyo Day to day management of the coordinators supporting them, this includes the management of the coordinator's responsibilities, annual leave, and absence. They are expected to pass on this information to the senior managers within the control team.
