Job summary
Are you an experienced Nurse in the field of colorectal cancer ?If so we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual to this specialist new emerging role. The post holder will play a pivotal role in supporting the patients referred with a suspected colorectal cancer to the Royal London Hospital. This is a fixed term full time post for 1 year.
This is a new role to support the faster diagnosis standard to ensure patients are told they have cancer, or that cancer is excluded, within a maximum of 28 days from referral. This post will be based at The Royal London Hospital with the main purpose of managing the colorectal suspected cancer referrals and implementing and managing the timed colorectal diagnostic pathway. As a member of this multidisciplinary unit you will play a key role in supporting the on-going improvement effort to shorten diagnosis pathways, reduce variation, improve patient experience of care and meet the Faster Diagnosis standard.
Post holder must have recent experience in working in colorectal with specialist knowledge of the Suspected Cancer pathways and investigations required. Evidence of continuing professional development is essential.
Main duties of the job
- To ensure the delivery of high quality patient care, provide a clear focus for nursing clinical leadership and education for colorectal cancer patients and the straight to test service.
- To be accountable for coordinating patient care and to contribute to the management of resources within the GI department.
- To be responsible and accountable for the provision of expert care in the Outpatient setting, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- To assist with the implementation of audit, quality and risk management initiatives.
