Job summary

We are seeking an experiences, self-motivated senior leader in NHS R&D for the post of Associate Director of Research Development at Barts Health NHS Trust. This is a key leadership role working closely with the Director of Research Development and Director of clinical research to deliver our ambitious strategy to place research at the heart of patient care across the NHS in east London.

The Key focus of this role will be engaging with Trust hospital sites, specialty areas, support departments and external stakeholders to develop research capabilities and grow the research activity across the Trust, in particular in areas of low research activity.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will develop, disseminate and implement a strategy that clearly sets out the aims, objectives and research growth targets of the Trust. Working closely with the Trust research leadership to develop individual development plans, assessing the feasibility of expanding activities, identifying barriers and risks and how these risks will be mitigated.

The post holder will develop mechanisms to ensure accurate and near real time oversight of research activity across the organisation. Working closely with individual clinical groups and support departments to understand Barts Health's research strengths, capabilities and patient populations to identify areas for growth and opportunities for development and to ensure they are positioned to react quickly to potential new opportunities and support feasibility assessments for new clinical studies.

The Associate Director of Research Development will play a key role in the enhancement of interactions between the Trust and external stakeholders, in particular life sciences industry, to develop strategic research partnership, promote the Trust's research capabilities, performance and strengths and the diversity of patient populations in order to generate new business opportunities and to place Barts Health as a reliable, collaborative and preferred partner for successful delivery of clinical research
