Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Whips Cross Hospital for RTT and Diagnostic Patient Pathway Validator for the Imaging Department.

The validator role demands excellent prioritisation and organisational skills and a collaborative approach to ensure smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment by the Trust. You will also have an interest in monitoring performance, driving change, and improving processes and systems. The ability to work autonomously, be proactive and able to take initiative to solve problems are crucial for this post. It will involve working collaboratively with both clinical and non-clinical team to deliver the objectives of the service.

The key features of the role are ensuring that all patients are tracked against the national 18-week RTT target, DM01 and cancer waiting times. This includes highlighting all potential breaches of the targets to the Service Manager and the clinical team in a timely fashion.

You will have medical secretarial/ pathway administration experience and be experienced in the use of patient administration systems ideally Cerner Millennium and Sectra RISe. Ideal candidates will have an in depth understanding of NHS England DM01 guidance and reporting.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this post is to actively validate and track the referral to treatment processes in a patient's diagnostic pathway. To escalate the following to service and clinical leads;

  • Any delays due to insufficient clinical information to progress the patient's pathway.
  • Pathways that require an event or a scheduled event to be brought forward in line with DM01 guidelines.
  • Trends/key themes of incorrect requests/data entry against the individual patient pathways.
  • Significant data quality issues/errors that may arise

These process steps ensure a smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment within the Trust. In addition to pathway validation, the role will encompass daily and weekly monitoring to maintain, and adhere to, real time workflows.

  • Understanding of Confidentiality and Data Protection Act and able to maintain confidentiality and trust with an awareness of information governance requirements

  • Knowledge of computerised software packages including MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and experienced use of CRS/RISe/PACs.
