An exciting vacancy has become available which involves working primarily within our core contact lens clinics at Whipps Cross site. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Contact Lens Practitioner or Optometrist to join our teams.
The post-holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary Optometry and Ophthalmology teams that provide comprehensive and quality ophthalmology services for the Trust.
You will be based in the Eye Treatment Centre at Whipps Cross University Hospital. The Eye Treatment Centre is a dedicated unit covering all ophthalmology specialties including vitreo-retinal, medical retina, glaucoma, cornea, oculo-plastics, paediatrics, neuro-ophthalmology and we also have a busy eye emergency service.
You will participate in the educational activities run by and for the Optical Services and Ophthalmology Departments. This includes the teaching of other health care professionals,
Main duties of the job
- To deliver a comprehensive range of core contact lens services to the highest standards of quality and care to patients attending the Eye Treatment Centre.
- To participate in the delivery of highly specialist contact lens services that meet the changing needs of the department.
- To undertake administrative duties as agreed with the Head Orthoptist.
- To provide teaching and training for all disciplines within Whipps Cross University Hospital including clinical supervision of pre-registration optometrists, less experienced optometrists and students.
- To participate in research and clinical audit as required by the WXUH Ophthalmology service
- The post-holder will be required to work autonomously and make clinical decisions using his/her own initiative as well as liaising with optical services' team
