Job summary
Barts Heart Centre Radiography department is currently looking to recruit full time Diagnostic Radiographers, who have an interest in pursuing a career in cardiovascular imaging, to join our friendly, hard-working, ambitious and highly skilled team. The department boasts a wealth of state-of-the-art equipment, with ten Cardiac Catheter Labs, three dedicated Cardiac MRI scanners, a dedicated Cardiac CT scanner and a hybrid theatre, with plans for future expansion.
This is an opportunity to become an expert in the heart and its circulation, and to develop specialist knowledge and skills whilst working in Europe's biggest cardiovascular centre. As a part of this fast paced and exciting role, you would be working as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team offering life-changing and often life-saving treatment to patients from around London and beyond, as well as taking part in ground breaking research and live broadcasting of cases for educational meetings and congresses.
As a Band 5 Radiographer you would be based in the Cardiac Cath Labs, providing imaging for a wide range of coronary intervention, structural heart intervention, electrophysiology, and pacing procedures. Full training will be provided, so no prior specialist cardiac experience is required. We actively encourage applications from 3rd year Diagnostic Radiography students who are keen to start their careers in a world renowned specialist Cardiac centre.
Main duties of the job
The aim of this role is to provide high quality, effective Imaging services within Cardiology including Cath Lab Angiography (electrophysiology, pacing, structural, and coronary intervention), Cardiac CT, and Cardiac MRI (rotation weighted according to service requirements). The post holder will work closely with Radiographers, students and clinical staff of all grades in providing safe, prompt and effective imaging.
Patients may be unconscious, un-cooperative, incapacitated, incompetent or with physical or mental disabilities. Some may exhibit anti-social or threatening behaviour. It is necessary to provide empathy and emotional support to the bereaved, terminally ill injured and traumatised.
The service operates 24 hours a day 365 days per year.
