Based at The Royal London Children's Hospital the job plan for this role will predominantly be delivering highly specialist acute care for complex communication and swallowing difficulties arising from trauma, acquired and progressive neurological conditions and acute and chronic respiratory conditions including tracheostomy and ventilated patients on our paediatric wards. They will deliver highly specialist and dedicated intervention to children and infants (0-16 years) admitted to the Paediatric wards including the 10 bedded Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) with complex feeding and swallowing difficulties, acquired and developmental communication disorders arising from a wide range of acute etiologies including trauma, respiratory and neurological conditions. The post holder will also work with the MDT and Clinical Lead SLT to set up an outpatient voice service for patients known to The Royal London Hospital. They will need to have experience and knowledge of paediatric voice disorders as well as experience of working within the voice MDT. The post holder should be a fully autonomous dysphagia practitioner, (ideally including paediatrics/infants) and should have knowledge of the management of children with tracheostomy and objective swallowing assessment e.g. videofluoroscopy and/or FEES, however training competencies can be provided to develop competencies as required.
