Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinincal governance nurse to join our busy neonatal team. of nursing, medical and AHPs. You will support this dedicated team and effectively offer support, education, training and expertise to lead this service.

As a neonatal team, we encourage and value family integrated Care, encouraging family/parents to work as part of the team caring for their babies. We try to offer holistic support and information from an expanding team of nurses and therapist, delivering the best support within each scope of practice. Our teams of nurses, doctors, surgeons, AHPs all share a common passion for neonatal care. Ward 8D NICU at Royal London Hospital are committed to providing the best possible care for our post surgical vulberable babies making sure they receive appropriate and best evidence based care both at Royal London Hospital and when appropriate at local hospital. We are a large level 3 tertiary unit consisting of 39 cots offering support to many hospitals within our NECL network and the North East Essex Partnerships. We invite nurses who are qualified in Speciality with a minimum of 5 years neonatal experience to apply for the advertised post of clinincal governance lead.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, experienced and knowledgeable neonatal nurse to work as our Clinical Governance and Risk lead Nurse.

The post holder will be a key member of the NICU ward management team and will work closely with our dedicated NICU nursing and consultant team, and our maternity and obstetric teams.

As the Neonatal Governance Lead the post holder will take responsibility for leading investigations of significant events and serious incidents, producing and monitoring action plans. There will be an expectation that you will provide support and information for staff to learn from incidents, taking into consideration human factors, route cause analysis pathways and assurance that change in practice has been embedded to prevent re-occurrence. They will promote a non blame environment where clinical governance and patient safety are paramount to the service.
