The Radiotherapy service is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital, a leading, internationally renowned teaching hospital situated within the City of London. The department offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic organisation using and developing the latest techniques and technologies.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Macmillan Advanced Practitioner to ensure personalised care is embedded across the Radiotherapy department. We are looking to recruit a compassionate, adaptable, experienced and motivated Therapeutic Radiographer to join our team with a specific interest in provision of individualised patient information and support.
Main duties of the job
The post is structured around the four core functions of advanced practice:
- Expert Practice
- Professional Leadership and Consultancy
- Education and Training
- Practice and Service Development
Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team you will be integral to the provision of a safe, comprehensive and effective Radiotherapy service which provides excellent care with compassion and respect.
Treatment equipment comprises five Varian TrueBeam linacs, CyberKnife, XStrahl orthovoltage unit and Gammamed HDR on the ARIA network complete the equipment portfolio.
Pre-treatment imaging is provided with a Siemens Somatom Confidence CT and planning with Varian Eclipse treatment planning system. Techniques include virtual simulation and delivery of simple and complex conformal treatments. IMRT, IGRT, TBI, DIBH, ART and gynaecological brachytherapy are currently offered as routine as well as multi-platform stereotactic radiosurgery and SABR. Further expansion of both pre-treatment and treatment delivery areas of the department is planned.
