Currently there is a vacancy for a highly motivated Band 6 Junior Sister at Newham Hospital. This is a permanent position.

Silvertown Ward is a24 bedded ward specializing in care of the older person. We are looking for a current ward manager or an aspiring junior sister/ charge nurse to lead this team on a permanent bases and also continue the excellent work the team are doing on the ward.

Main duties of the job

The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse has delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical areas including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards on a shift basis and in the authorised absence of the Ward Manager.

The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will participate in innovation and evidenced based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the Ward Manager and the other Junior Sister/Charge Nurse on the ward. The post holder will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.

The Junior Sister /Charge Nurse is expected to have delegated responsibility for the operational and management issues in the authorised absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse, and take on the leadership of specific projects as agreed with the Ward Manager.
