An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Medical Education Team at The Royal London Hospital and, part of the Education Academy at Barts Health Trust (6 months Maternity Cover).
The post holder will support the Medical and Dental Education Manager and the Medical Education Team in the smooth and efficient running of Medical Education Programmes at the Royal London Hospital.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised and good at building relationships with staff across the Trust.The successful candidate will be conscientious, proactive, and keen to learn and enjoy working in a busy team.

Main duties of the job
The Medical Education team are required to ensure that Barts Health meets the contractual requirements of its commissioners, Health Education England, and maintain the high quality standards for education and training as expected of the trust. This incorporates medical education and training from Undergraduate through to higher training specialty programmes and faculty development.

Job responsibilities
Postgraduate Training Programmes
- Work closely with the Training Programme Director to manage Training rotations for the Royal London and St Barts sites, informing department leads of vacancies and swaps
- Plan teaching programme according to curriculum, liaising with consultants and trainers to fill teaching slots and book rooms
- Monitor attendance for teaching sending regular reports to Training Programme Director and assisting with investigating non-attendance.
- Monitor teaching feedback and work towards quality improvement of the delivered programme
- Assign Educational & Clinical Supervisors t for the monitoring and support of training progress and referral of trainees in difficulty
- Organise and take minutes for the quarterly Local Faculty Group and manage actions arising from meetings
- Support Training Programme Director (TPDs) in the organisation of Annual Review of Competency Progression (ARCP) including panel members and trainee appointments
- Maintain up to date records and contact details of clinical and educational supervisors for each post and post holder
- Act as first point of contact for trainee issues and queries referring to TPD where necessary
Dental Programmes Support
- Organise Dental Core Training (DCT) Teaching programme liaising with the Deputy Director of Dental Education (DDDE) and relevant speakers, booking rooms and informing trainees.
- Support the DCT Local Faculty Group (LFG) and other Dental Specialty LFGs where needed.
- Organise the week-long DCT Local Induction with the DDDE.
Course Delivery
- Agree dates with external course facilitators.
- Arrange venues and update communications for advertisement in line with trust branding guidelines.
- Advertise courses widely through Induction, Local Faculty Groups, Mess, Medical Education Committees and Trainee Forums.
- Using the course booking system manage delegate applications and queries. Prioritise applications where necessary using set criteria.
- Collect and analyse feedback for the continuous development of programme content and delivery
Arrange and plan multi-agency events
- Manage the programme for monthly Junior Doctor Induction; arrange and confirm speakers, liaise with departments such as HR & Registration Authority regarding event logistics, invite new starters, answer queries and liaise with external companies and suppliers.
- Coordinate facilitators at induction ensuring smooth and efficient running of the programme.
- Liaise with the other site medical education teams regarding the order of the day and cross site support required
- Ensure evaluation forms are handed out and sent electronic to provide a range of formats for feedback on the induction
- To provide a summary of the feedback to use for the continuous development and compliance of the Induction programme.
- Provide a report on DNA and Walk-ins for Medical Staffing to investigate the issues
- Monitor attendance of new starters and report non-attendance to site Medical Education Managers for the purposes of Statutory and Mandatory training compliance in accordance with NHS policy.
- Update systems to record statutory and mandatory training compliance for all Junior Doctors at Barts Health.
Information Systems
- Create and manage posts for Trainees on e-portfolio
- Use Trainee Information Systems data to create reports for quality management and training purposes
- Produce reports for Medical Education Manager on a regular basis for presentation at Senior Management meetings
