Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Barts Health NHS Trust as a Locum Consultant in Pain Medicine, working in a service with the international reputation for integrated multidisciplinary approach across various domains of pain medicine in one functioning department. This 12-month fixed term post contains 5 Programmed Activities (PA) per week in Pain Medicine, working across secondary care at St Bartholomew's Hospital (SBH) and Mile End Hospital (MEH) and primary care in the Newham MSK pain clinic. Additional PA in the Royal London Hospital (RLH) anaesthetics department are offered to appropriately qualified consultant anaesthetists, but we welcome applications from other medical specialty backgrounds and have a vision for this post to become substantive. There is currently no on-call or acute pain management attached to this post.
Main duties of the job
The Pain Service forms a RLH directorate together with Perioperative Medicine within the Division of Surgery, the post is responsible to the Clinical Director, Dr Madeleine Dancey. The post-holder will have an opportunity to develop the multimodal pain management in the community setting, forming strong links with MSK physiotherapy, psychology, and neurosurgery as well as general practice. They also have regular commitments in the Pain Management Programme and general pain clinics at SBH and perform interventional pain medicine procedures in the high-volume low complexity surgery programme (HVLC).
