Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated non clinical health care support worker to join our busy team here on ward 8D Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. You will become part of a small team of healthcare support workers on the ward that help us to maintain the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene we strive for by monitoring and keeping equipment and parts of the environment clean, uncluttered and in good order as per health and safety guidelines and our Infection and prevention control policies.

This post has great opportunity for learning and skills development to increase your knowledge while working with a friendly but supportive MDT consisting of clerical, AHP, medical and nursing, domestic, ancillary staff. The Non clinical HCA are a big part of this helping us to care for sick neonates from both the extreme prematurity to term births, providing surgical and medical care by ensuring our hygiene standards are consistent and clean equipment is available.

To help maintain and provide an effective and efficient service by monitoring and cleaning equipment used within neonatal intensive care. You will work as part of a smaller team of 5-6 other non clinical HCA ensuring 7 day cover for the ward Monday to Sunday. You will not be expected to work nights and the shifts are 12.5 hours from 07.45 - 20.15.

Main duties of the job

To ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained within the neonatal intensive care unit which cares for extremely vulnerable patients.

To disassemble sanitise and clean incubators, cots, and appropriate bedside equipment then reassemble according to manufacturers guidelines.

To ensure all cleaning within the unit are all within date and documented according to Infection prevention and control policies.
