Job summary

We are looking for an MRI Clinical specialist HCPC registered Radiographer to work in close conjunction with the MRI Superintendent Radiographer and team at our brand-new MRI unit opening in September 2022 at Mile End Hospital which will be part of the new Community Diagnostics Centre and the existing Early Diagnosis Centre.

This post gives you the opportunity to use your clinical expertise in MRI to set up and help run the MRI service at our new centre. Encouragement will be given to staff with accredited post graduate training in MRI and have had experience in working with deep resolve.

The centre will be equipped with a 3T wide bore Siemens MAGNETOM Vida (DE) scanner.

MAGNETOM Vida - the first BioMatrix system - leverages the intelligent combination of Tim 4G and the Siemens unique BioMatrix technology to be ready to embrace the unique set of challenges that each and every patient brings to the MRI

We will be providing a service to a wide range of cancer, urgent, rheumatology and routine outpatients across North, East of London.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate post graduate experience in MRI. Training of radiographers in MRI will be essential, as will the review and implementation of new scanning protocols in conjunction with MRI Modality lead Radiographer and Radiologists ensuring all staff are aware of the new studies/procedures.

Main duties of the job

To work closely with the MRI Superintendent Radiographer leading the radiographic staff, todevelop an efficient MRI service for the Community Diagnostic Centre / Early Diagnosis Centre at Mile End Hospital.To offer clinical specialist knowledge for the MRI service, standardising protocols, and helping to manage the patient bookings and waiting lists, the rotation of radiographers and imaging assistants throughout the MRI department.To help organise and oversee the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of MRI scanning, including comprehensive competency assessments.To provide an effective clinical specialist role for the MRI service as part of the Community Diagnostic Centre / Early Diagnosis Centre at Mile End Hospital during the set up phase and there after operation of the department.In conjunction with the MRI Managers, promote continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the MRI service, using modern methods to improve productivity, leading in the delivery of service and workforce transformation, and re-design.The Post-holder will help manage the work of staff in the department and develop a culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services.
