An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Registration Authority Agent to join the team and assist in the Trusts continued growth of Smartcard enabled applications.
In brief, the RA facilitates the Identity & Access Management (IAM) process for the Trust via completion of robust Identity checks, production of physical and Virtual Smartcards and the assignment of Position based access for use across numerous clinical applications and Electronic Staff Records (ESR).
The successful candidate will be required to conduct appointments and sessions autonomously both in the office and at any trust site. There is also a requirement to provide ongoing technical support around the Smartcard and associated software. You will need to provide accurate, clear and concise information often of a technical nature, assisting with problem solving and signposting as appropriate
Main duties of the job
- Ensure continuity of the trust RA service, to support timely access by clinical and support staff as well as training access and staff testing access on behalf of the project teams
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of all activities associated with the provision of the RA service in accordance with the Data Protection Act and other Information Governance rule and regulations
- Conform to all National and Trust policies and procedures regarding registration for NHS CRS Smartcard applications
- Train and support staff for the introduction of smartcards to access clinical systems
- Perform RA Activities according to Trust policies and procedures including, but not limited to:
- User registration
- Verifying user ID checks to e-GIF level 3 & taking photos
- User NHS Spine UUID account creation
- Smartcard production and issuance
- Ensure terms and conditions of Smartcard usage are agreed to
- Role profile maintenance/administration
- Adding or changing role profiles (where appropriate)
- Deactivating role profiles
- Revocation and cancelling smartcards
- User suspension
- PIN/Passcode resetting
- Smartcard certificate renewal
- Replacing lost and damaged smartcards
- Incident reporting
- Advising on and monitoring user access and smartcard use
- Providing user information and reports to the CS Technical Team

The RA Agent is responsible for providing arrangements that will ensure tight contract over the issue and maintenance of electronic Smartcards, whilst providing an efficient and responsive service that meets the needs of the users.
The RA Agent will:
- Hold face to face meetings with users to check original identification documents, take photos and witness the correct completion of registration forms
- Create NHS Spine User accounts and print and issue Smartcards in accordance with agreed national and local policies.
- Have received appropriate training before undertaking RA Agent duties and to keep up to date with training, in particular with respect to new IAM (Identity and Access Management) Service and RA systems and processes.
- Responsible for the setup and day to day running of the Trusts Registration Authority service.
- Travel to user sites to undertake mobile registration activities.
- Ensure adequate stocks of smartcards, necessary consumables and relevant equipment is maintained securely and available for use at all times.
- Adhere to audit requirements and ensure that all RA forms and associated information is maintained and securely stored according to national and local policy.
- Support helpdesk and floor walking presence across the sites to provide real time, onsite support and guidance to users and to promote good practice.
- To potentially provide on-call service to manage problems that arise outside normal working hours.
