Job summary

The post holder will support the Learning and Development Managers in ensuring that programmes delivered by the team are of a high quality, relevant and reflective of our Trust values by using and developing robust evaluation and feedback processes. The nature of this role will involve close and regular contact with staff in all disciplines and levels of the organisation enabling the team to meet the increasing demands on our inductions, apprenticeships and accredited and softs skills programmes

The post holder will be expected to be part of the team responsible for the delivery and facilitation of core Trust programmes for example our Induction portfolio and for the development of our e-Learning portfolio and digital engagement tools.

Main duties of the job

  • Design, deliver and evaluate quality learning and development initiatives for example online personal development and leadership programmes that meet the needs of Barts Health staff and are aligned to the priorities of the Trust.
  • Using an evidenced-based approach keep up to date with best practice, research and developments in leadership and management, healthcare and the wider NHS and weave these into our programme portfolio.
  • Work with external consultants and training providers for specific learning and training programmes ensuring the Trust's vision, values and priorities are central to any commissioning/delivery.
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of Trust's Corporate Induction programme, Consultants Induction and Newly Appointed Manager induction,.
  • To promote the Trust's equality, diversity and inclusion strategy through everything they do.
  • Lead on quality assurance and development of the Trust's personal development and leadership and management online learning portfolios.
  • Lead on the further development of our ILM accredited programme portfolio (particularly creating a robust and supportive online learning element to hybrid courses) creating development opportunities for first supervisory role through to experienced leaders.

Job responsibilities

  • To work autonomously in your specialist areas of responsibility using accredited body criteria and Trust polices as guidance. Manage your own learning and training portfolio, plan in advance to manage your demanding workload and deliver projects to agreed deadlines.
  • To set priorities but also have the ability to be flexible and proactive to emergent needs.

  • To demonstrate confidence and ability in handling difficult situations within the training environment e.g. the ability to deal with distressed or disruptive delegates, and to manage challenging conversations between delegates with opposing views.

Line Management

  • To effectively manage the L&D facilitators in line with our Trust WeCare values including sickness absence management, approving annual leave, appraisals and 121s and wellbeing

Project Management

  • Provide a learning and development consultancy service , liaising with managers and subject matter experts to develop bespoke e-learning and digital resources to meet staff needs.
  • Responsible for the scope, design and project management of specific requests for online learning and development received outside of the Design and Delivery annual training plan.
  • Identify and engage with key stakeholders to build effective working relationships, ensuring they are actively engaged in the diagnosis, design and development of programmes/workshops and that key deliverables are mutually agreed and recorded
  • Evaluate and critically review projects once completed and provide written reports of such to the Associate Director, L&D and L&D/Apprenticeship Managers

Education Technology

  • To work closely with the Education Technology team to identify additional and new modes of delivery for relevant modules/programmes.
  • Actively use the Course Attendance Tracker (CAT) to accurately record course attendance thereby removing the need to keep paper-based registers.
  • Provide educational expertise to the Education Technology team to assist with the development of learning experiences using instructional design and technology to create bite size learning that increase the accessibility of our programmes.
  • Work closely with the Education Technology team to maintain, innovate and improve the Trusts Moodle platform.

Information Management

  • To liaise with the Education Academy administration teams to ensure all relevant course attendance data is monitored and where issues identified draw up plans for addressing these.
  • Ensure all learner identifiable data is stored according to Trust policy including hard and soft copy of assessment results, application forms and programme registrations.

To evaluate and assess internal training using a recognised evaluation model. To liaise with the Learning & Development Managers on reporting impact on achieving overall corporate objectives and/or service improvement .

  • Prepare reports/papers for Learning and Development senior management team and the Trust Education Committee on development, uptake, evaluation and value of our programme portfolio
