Lay Chair for Advisory Appointment Committee panels for Substantive Consultants

NOTE: Added pay banding for purposes of advertising - please note that Agenda for Change pay does not apply to this role

The recruitment of Medical and Dental Consultants in the NHS is vital to ensure the delivery of high-quality care for patients and their families.

An essential part of the recruitment and selection process is a robust interview which for Consultant roles are known as an Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC). In accordance with national guidelines, the membership of all AAC's includes a Lay Chair who is responsible for facilitating constructive and productive panel discussions and enabling all panel members to contribute to the assessment of candidates and the decision to appoint. They also play a vital role in ensuring independent, diverse perspectives, and that necessary skills are incorporated into the consultant selection process.

At Barts Health NHS Trust, we are seeking to recruit additional Lay Chairs to support us with this critical activity.

More information about the national guidelines for the appointment of Consultants is available at: here
