An exciting opportunity has arisen to train as a Dental Nurse, in one of the largest NHS trusts in England. The Dental Nurse Training programme at Barts Health provides hands on Dental Nursing experience, a salary and an opportunity to gain a qualification whilst you work.

Barts Health NHS Trust Dental Nurse Training & Education are currently recruiting for 6 Trainee Dental Nurses to commence training for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses Diploma in Dental Nursing qualification in February 2024.

Trainee Dental Nurses joining Barts Health become part of our well established Dental Nursing team, and have the opportunity to work amongst our multi-disciplinary teams in various specialities at our Dental Hospital and Outreach clinics.

Main duties of the job

Trainee Dental Nurses are required to attend weekly structured theoretical sessions, and complete clinical work placements to gain the clinical experience and competencies required to complete the training programme.

On completion of training and successful completion of the NEBDN National Diploma examinations, Trainee Dental Nurses will qualify as a Dental Nurse and be able to register with the General Dental Council.

The course is a blend of theoretical and clinical practice, whereby you are employed within the Trust as a Trainee Dental Nurse for 37.5 hours a week on a Band 3 salary. This is for a fixed term contract of 15 months. This typically equates to 4 days where you will be working clinically in one of the dental departments within the dental hospital at Whitechapel, or in one of our outreach sites. Our outreach sites are:

  • Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone
  • Sir Ludwig Guttman centre in Stratford
  • Barkantine Health Centre in Canary Wharf
  • Kenworthy Road Health Centre in Hackney

One day a week will be dedicated to theoretical training.

The training will be delivered by Barts Health Dental Nurse Training & Education Centre's team of experienced Dental Nurse Tutors at Barts Health Dental Hospital.
