Junior Clinical Fellow in Renal Medicine and Transplantation

Applications are invited for a Junior Clinical Fellow (FY2, FY3 or CMT level) in Renal Medicine and Transplantation.

The post will suit applicants who wish to gain experience in Renal Medicine.

In this position the appointee will be exposed to all aspects renal medicine, including renal replacement therapy (haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, renal transplantation), acute kidney injury and various sub-specialities within the field of nephrology

Main duties of the job

The Department of Renal Medicine and Transplantation in the Royal London Hospital is one of the biggest and most dynamic Renal units in the country and receives excellent ratings in the GMC trainee survey.

We provide a comprehensive tertiary renal service for East London. These services encompass general nephrology, acute kidney injury (AKI), haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, transplantation, low clearance and supportive care. We also have a number of specialist areas of interests relating to renal disease, including cardiovascular disease, diabetic kidney disease, liver disease, HIV, lupus/vasculitis, transitional medicine, membranous nephropathy, podocyte diseases and renal obstetrics.

The junior medical team comprises four CMTs, two SHO grade clinical fellows, three FY2s and one FY1. In addition to 9 clinical registrars and a number of research registrars. There are 13 Consultant Physicians and 5 Consultant Surgeons. The SHOs cover Renal Services at The Royal London Hospital. The post is split into periods as a ward SHO (9E and 9F), Renal HDU and on call (long days, nights and weekends)
