We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic clinical psychologist to join our team.
We have an exciting opportunity for a part time (0.2 wte) Band 8a clinical psychologist to join a psychology team for adults who receive a range of specialist cardio-thoracic, respiratory, and critical care services at the Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew's Hospital (which is part of Bartshealth NHS Trust).
The post holder will work under the line management and clinical supervision of a consultant clinical psychologist (BHC Psychology Service Lead) and their role will include coordinating the delivery of psychological services to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service at Whipps Cross Hospital. This is a new post so part of the role will be evaluating the impact of psychological provision in this context to inform future service development. They will be joining a supportive group of clinical psychologists who lead and deliver the psychology provision for the other BHC specialties and wider professionals within these specialties, who also work with these patients.
Main duties of the job
The Barts Heart Centre (BHC) Psychology Service works with adult patients and their families who live with an acute or chronic cardiac or respiratory condition and those who require a critical care admission (predominantly cardio-thoracic and cancer related). It also provides a range of support structures for staff who look after these patients. Specifically, these patients are under the care of specialist multidisciplinary teams within the Barts Heart Centre, including the adult congenital heart service (GUCH), The Heart Attack Centre (HAC); The Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU); Heart Failure, Electrophysiology, Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions, Difficult Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis. The post holder will be working with adults who have life limiting and life-threatening conditions.
There is also a wider team of psychological specialists, on the St Bartholomew's site, working in cancer and palliative care with lots of opportunity for peer support, joint case working when a specialty overlap exists and shared service development on common themes across the hospital, for example, staff support.

- Good honors degree in Psychology
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS/HCPC, including clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Eligibility for Chartered status and membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology
- Registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council as Practitioner Psychologist
- Post-doctoral training and recorded CPD experience and /or further qualifications in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists
