Job summary
We have recently restructured our site People team and have the opportunity for a 12-month fixed term Senior People Advisor within the Women's Division. The post-holder will be dedicated to the Women's Division and will work closely with the team to improve our fill, sickness and retentions rates.

Reporting to the Associate People Partner - Employee Relations, the post holder will ensure the provision of professional, consistent, customer-focussed HR advice, coaching and solutions to the divisions across RLH&MEH. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Ensuring Trust People policies and procedures are translated and applied locally in line with our fair and just culture framework.
- Providing high quality HR advice, support and coaching to managers across RLH&MEH.
- To support the People team in the implementation of Barts Health People Strategies.

Main duties of the job
- To support the development and provision of a professional, customer-focused HR advice, coaching and solutions for the RLH & MEH, working closely with the Associate People Partner and People Advisors. The post holder will support the Trust in the delivery of operational projects and initiatives.
- Working in partnership with managers to develop and deliver an effective employee relations service at the RLH & MEHs which is a crucial element of the overall People Strategy that will deliver an approach to people management that embodies a people-centered culture of learning.
- This role is responsible for supporting the management and co-ordination of the employee relations casework, ensuring that case work is carried out consistently in an effective and efficient way in accordance with Barts Health policies and procedures, current legislation and best practice.

- To provide high quality, consistent HR advice, coaching/traning, workforce information and other support to managers within the Divisions across RLH&MEHs. Working closely with other colleagues across the People team where necessary.
- To promote a positive, proactive approach to People management in the Trust, acting as an advocate for an open, fair and transparent employment relations environment, and develop positive working partnerships with trade union representatives and managers to achieve a Just and Learning culture.
- To support the Associate People Partner and the People Advisors in the implementation of the Barts Health People Strategies across RLH&MEH including WeLead, WeBelong and Wellbeing.
- To manage an employee relations caseload, as well as providing support and guidance to the People Advisors on the management and direction of their own caseloads. Ensure that case work is completed in a proactive and timely way.
- Work in conjunction with the Senior Managers to minimise exposure to employment related litigation. This will involve the sharing of knowledge and best practice to managers within the organisation by developing and implementing specific HR training across the site.
- To participate in the ongoing updating and development of policies and procedures, ensuring that they reflect current legislation and respond to organisational needs,
- To support the Associate People Partner in producing regular updates on case work, monitoring of case work metrics and key performance indicators, providing reports to the People Partners, Senior People Leads and Senior Managers.
- To work in partnership with staff side representatives, assisting in the development and maintenance of a culture of positive employee relations at RLH & MEH, working, negotiating and consulting with recognised employee representatives to develop strategies and policies and to constructively resolve complex HR issues.
- To provide expert HR advice to site managers on issues such as discipline, grievance, sickness management and employment law. This may involve advice and support on issues for which there are no clear guidelines and which may set precedents. To ensure day-to-day consistent advice is provided across the team.
- To advise managers in all aspects of employee relations including bullying and harassment, conduct, performance management, grievance, disciplinary and sickness absence in line with the Trusts employment policies, employment law and best practice.
- To advise and support managers chairing formal hearings under the Trust's employment procedures ensuring that the appropriate procedure is adhered to, and that employees have a full, fair and impartial hearing. To advise managers on the appropriate action to take under such procedures, taking account of all the circumstances and ensuring consistency of approach across the Trust.
- To assist managers in preparing management statements of case for internal appeal hearings.
- To identify and promote informal and preventative conflict resolution where possible and to liaise with OD and L&D colleagues to devise resolution interventions thereto, where appropriate.
- To advise managers on individual sickness absence management cases and to run local reports from Health Roster, to identify themes and patterns and contribute to greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness in line with Trusts sickness absence benchmarks and strategies.
- To support the People Partners, where necessary, on organisational change. Working with managers, staff and Trade Union colleagues.
- To support the Associate People Partner in providing a learning and coaching environment for the People Advisors.
