Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ENT Band 5 nurse wishing to develop their Ear Nose and Throat nursing and management skills. We are looking for a friendly enthusiastic and hardworking nurse with minimum 3 years' experience in an Outpatient setting to work in the ENT clinic. Good interpersonal skills together with the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting are essential. You will be expected to assist with every day management of patient care, providing comfort, support and information to the patient's and relatives and ensuring high standards of patient care. An ability to lead a team and provide guidance will be essential. You will be expected to cover for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence. You will have opportunity to work in all areas of ENT and to develop your nursing skills.
Main duties of the job
1.To assist the Band 7 in the management, maintain and support outpatient clinics across The Royal London Hospitals. The Outpatient areas are currently open Monday to Friday with varying hours from 08.00 to 19.00. There is a possibility that in the future there will be regular weekend and evening work.
The Junior sister is responsible for supporting the Band 7's in the management of designated clinic areas, and for the professional development of staff. This includes completing rotas, appraisals and managing informal sickness. The Junior Sister will provide advice and support to the team involved in caring for patients in the Outpatient setting. They will be expected to set and maintain high standards of care in line with Trust vision & values, and be accountable for auditing and monitoring those standards.
To be a professional role model, coordinating clinics, supporting the Senior Sister. Taking continuing responsibility and accountability for clinics in the absence of the Senior Sister.
At all times ensure that patients are at the center of care in the department.
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified
