Job summary

We would like to recruit an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist who will take a leadership role in developing and delivering a new High-risk Sexual Behaviours Pathway (E1 Clinic). This is a new psychology-led service which offers rapid assessment and interventions to people who feel out of control of their sexual behaviour, which is increasing their risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections and/or blood borne viruses.

The post-holder will be expected to have a case load for individual psychosexual assessments and interventions in addition to leading a psycho-educational group for reducing high risk sexual behaviour. The post holder will also assist in developing these services across Waltham Forest and Newham sites, in addition to Tower Hamlets.

The Psychology Service enjoys good close working relationships with the multi-disciplinary teams in Infection & Immunity. We are an energetic and supportive team offering excellent professional support, supervision and CPD. There is a wealth of specialist clinical expertise, and the service has an active audit, research and teaching programme. There are also close links with North London Clinical Psychology training courses and Queen Mary Medical School.

Applicants who are interested in job sharing are encouraged to apply. Some degree of remote working will be expected.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take a leadership role in developing and delivering a new High-risk Sexual Behaviours Pathway (E1 Clinic), which is embedded in both the ALL EAST Integrated Sexual Health Service and the Infection & Immunity Service (HIV service) at Barts Health NHS Trust.

The E1 Clinic is a psychology-led service which offers rapid assessment and interventions to people who feel out of control of their sexual behaviour, which is increasing the risk of acquiring sexually transmitted infections and/or blood borne viruses. This includes substance use in a sexualised context (i.e., chemsex). The service offers short-term individual psychotherapeutic interventions and a group programme (Rebalance).

In addition to developing, delivering, and evaluating the Rebalance group programme, the post-holder will also hold a case load for individual psychosexual interventions. The post holder will also assist in developing services across Waltham Forest and Newham sites, in addition to Tower Hamlets.

The post holder will also contribute to audit, research and service development. The post holder will further the practice of clinical psychology and psychosexual counselling, by assisting in service development, audit/evaluation and clinical governance.

The post holder will also contribute to our multi-disciplinary staff teaching programme to promote psychosocial knowledge and skills in responding to the psychosocial needs of our service users.
